Judge James Lambe shook the hand of Colin Tiso who led this years Dairy Shorthorn Champion Cotonhall Absolute Joy to victory. This so aptly named heifer in milk is “close to perfection” according to the judge “she drew my eye the moment she set foot into the ring. For such a young animal she is exceptional”.

Judge Tony Hayes, Llandovery Illawarra's, Victoria, Australia taps Churchroyd Peggy 19th out to retain her unbeaten track record in the show ring by winning the Championship title for the third time at the Great Yorkshire Show.  When commenting on his Champion from IRG Collins & Partners, Tony states that “she is almost faultless.”

“As soon as this cow entered the ring she was the winner” Judge Rob Kite, Cotonhall, Stafford states as he decisively taps out Avondale Furbelow 14th from the Crank family as this years Royal Welsh Champion. “This senior cow is the complete package from the tip of her tail to the tip of her nose”.

Staffordshire County Show 2018

Kites Fly the Shorthorn Banner at Stafford

Staffordshire County Show certainly took a hit in numbers this year due to the increasing TB cases across the area. But Judge John Lomax, Whitmore Herd, Staffordshire was clearly impressed with the quality that paraded before him. He had no hesitation as he tapped out his Champion Cotonhall Alfie Nellie from Rob and Kate Kite “the cow was an effortless winner today with fantastic scope, power, and quality of udder.” 

Cotonhall Alfie Nellie VG86 as a two year old, is owned in partnership with J & B Evans in Australia.  “This junior cow is a power house, with lovely bloom in the udder”.  Nellie no stranger to the show ring having won the National Show Junior Championship last year and the calf Championship in 2016.  She calved back in December and is still producing 32kgs daily in her second lactation.  “She caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring, having such presence and style on parade she was an easy champion for me today.”

Champion: Irthingelt Talula 2

Hallelujah with Irthingelt Talula 2 at The Highland

With the highest entries of dairy cattle forward at this show years Royal Highland Show Thomas Moscrop, Irthington, Cumbria was astounded to emerge victorious with Irthingelt Talula 2nd.  But for the Judge Graham Bell, Irthingvale herd Cheshire, she was “a worthy Champion”.
