Cotonhall Absolute Joy Reigns Supreme at The Dairy Show as she almost makes a clean sweep under the scrutiny of all the breed judges. Seimon Thomas, Drisgol herd, Pembrokeshire taps out the youngster bred by Rob Kite and now owned by John McLean for her second consecutive breed title after her victory at UK Dairy Day merely a matter of weeks ago.  “This super stylish heifer oozes dairy character and has exceptional balance from nose to tail she was hands down an easy winner today”.

All Breeds All Britain Cotonhall Win Championship

Leading the way at this years show which was held for the first time at the East of England Showground, Peterborough was Cotonhall Three Creeks Nellie.  Judge Matt Hayward, felt that “this calf just shone above the rest, for her overall balance, depth of rib and how she effortless paraded around the ring.”

Judge James Lambe shook the hand of Colin Tiso who led this years Dairy Shorthorn Champion Cotonhall Absolute Joy to victory. This so aptly named heifer in milk is “close to perfection” according to the judge “she drew my eye the moment she set foot into the ring. For such a young animal she is exceptional”.

Staffordshire County Show 2018

Kites Fly the Shorthorn Banner at Stafford

Staffordshire County Show certainly took a hit in numbers this year due to the increasing TB cases across the area. But Judge John Lomax, Whitmore Herd, Staffordshire was clearly impressed with the quality that paraded before him. He had no hesitation as he tapped out his Champion Cotonhall Alfie Nellie from Rob and Kate Kite “the cow was an effortless winner today with fantastic scope, power, and quality of udder.” 

Cotonhall Alfie Nellie VG86 as a two year old, is owned in partnership with J & B Evans in Australia.  “This junior cow is a power house, with lovely bloom in the udder”.  Nellie no stranger to the show ring having won the National Show Junior Championship last year and the calf Championship in 2016.  She calved back in December and is still producing 32kgs daily in her second lactation.  “She caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring, having such presence and style on parade she was an easy champion for me today.”
